outline for today&#8217;s homily was:<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Today&#8217;s readings focus on six things we need for a great Advent and a life-changing pilgrimage:\n<ul>\n<li>The cloud symbolizing how the Lord accompanies us by day<\/li>\n<li>The pillar of fire indicating the vigilance with which we should wait the Lord.<\/li>\n<li>The joy with which we should go to the Lord and to his house<\/li>\n<li>The humility with which we should approach the Lord<\/li>\n<li>The faith we should have in him, like the Centurion<\/li>\n<li>The recognition that the Lord wants people from everywhere to come to him, like we will see on pilgrimage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>We make our own the words of the Centurion as we prepare to receive Jesus.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>The readings for today&#8217;s Mass were:\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<div class=\"wr-block b-verse bg-white padding-bottom-m\">\n<div class=\"container\">\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"p-wrap col-lg-10 offset-lg-1 col-xl-8 offset-xl-2 col-xxl-6 offset-xxl-3 \">\n<div class=\"innerblock\">\n<div class=\"content-header\">\n<h3 class=\"name\">Reading 1<\/h3>\n<div class=\"address\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bible.usccb.org\/bible\/Isaiah\/4?2\">Isaiah 4:2-6<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"content-body\">\n<p>On that day,<br \/>\nThe branch of the LORD will be luster and glory,<br \/>\nand the fruit of the earth will be honor and splendor<br \/>\nfor the survivors of Israel.<br \/>\nHe who remains in Zion<br \/>\nand he who is left in Jerusalem<br \/>\nWill be called holy:<br \/>\nevery one marked down for life in Jerusalem.<br \/>\nWhen the LORD washes away<br \/>\nthe filth of the daughters of Zion,<br \/>\nAnd purges Jerusalem&#8217;s blood from her midst<br \/>\nwith a blast of searing judgment,<br \/>\nThen will the LORD create,<br \/>\nover the whole site of Mount Zion<br \/>\nand over her place of assembly,<br \/>\nA smoking cloud by day<br \/>\nand a light of flaming fire by night.<br \/>\nFor over all, the LORD&#8217;s glory will be shelter and protection:<br \/>\nshade from the parching heat of day,<br \/>\nrefuge and cover from storm and rain.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wr-block b-verse bg-white padding-bottom-m\">\n<div class=\"container\">\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"p-wrap col-lg-10 offset-lg-1 col-xl-8 offset-xl-2 col-xxl-6 offset-xxl-3 \">\n<div class=\"innerblock\">\n<div class=\"content-header\">\n<h3 class=\"name\">Responsorial Psalm<\/h3>\n<div class=\"address\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bible.usccb.org\/bible\/psalms\/122?1\">Psalm 122:1-2, 3-4b, 4cd-5, 6-7, 8-9<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"content-body\">\n<p>R. approached him and appealed to him, saying,<br \/>\n&#8220;Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, suffering dreadfully.&#8221;<br \/>\nHe said to him, &#8220;I will come and cure him.&#8221;<br \/>\nThe centurion said in reply,<br \/>\n&#8220;Lord, I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof;<br \/>\nonly say the word and my servant will be healed.<br \/>\nFor I too am a man subject to authority,<br \/>\nwith soldiers subject to me.<br \/>\nAnd I say to one, &#8216;Go,&#8217; and he goes;<br \/>\nand to another, &#8216;Come here,&#8217; and he comes;<br \/>\nand to my slave,
