On October 5, I gave a candid interview with Thomas Mirus of Catholic Culture on the clergy sexual abuse crisis. We had a chance to cover many themes: Former Cardinal McCarrick and his rise in the hierarchy, the Pennsylvania Grand Jury Report, the nature of the crisis, the spiritual problems in the Church that permitted it to occur and remain unaddressed, what has and has been improved since 2002, the connections between doctrinal and moral infidelity, the mindset of clerical double-lives, and whether clericalism is an adequate explanation for the crisis.
