The following points were attempted in this conference:

  • For Pope Francis, the true reform of the Church will make us an “evangelizing Church that comes out of herself.”
  • What Pope Francis indicated during World Youth Day in Brazil about this “exodus” to place Christ rather than ourselves in the center
  • How that Copernican revolution in our lives leads us to go to proclaim the Gospel
  • How the 2007 Aparecida document of the Bishops of Latin America and the Caribbean, of which Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio was the principal author, shows us the formation necessary to help individuals and the whole Church become “missionary disciples in communion.”
  • Aparecida said that we should work along four lines: helping people encounter Jesus, live in community, know the Bible and the Catechism, and make a missionary commitment. This happens through five necessary stages of formation: the encounter with Jesus Christ, conversion, discipleship, communion, and mission. This formation will be able to be given when the Church is near and when it actually promotes the encounter with each other in Christ, warming others’ hearts.
