Here’s the letter sent by email to priests, which gives an overview of the Seminar:

Dear Brother Priests,

I’m writing to invite you to the Tenth Annual Seminar for Priests, which will take place April 21-23, 2014 at Arnold Hall in Pembroke, MA.

The theme will be on learning Models for Priestly Holiness for Parish Priests Today. We will study six different priests in the “hagiological news” and what we can learn from them. We’ll ponder both Blessed John Paul II and Blessed John XXIII as we prepare for their canonizations the Sunday after the Seminar. We will enter into the pastoral work of Blessed Jerzy Popieluszko and Blessed Pino Puglisi, both recent martyrs killed for doing their job as good shepherds protecting their people from the Communist and Mafia wolves respectively. We’ll look into the life of the Servant of God Fr. Patrick Peyton, the famous Rosary Priest who did so much to strengthen families and to evangelize Hollywood and the media. We’ll study the priestly life of Venerable Bishop Alvaro del Portillo who will be beatified in September and could be called the “patron saint of priestly multi-tasking,” with much to teach parish priests today on how to keep their focus among all their varied responsibilities. We also hope to be able to consider the priestly zeal and capacity for co-redemptive priestly suffering of the American Servant of God Fr. Walter Ciszek, but we are still awaiting final confirmation.

Easter Week at Arnold Hall is always memorable. There’s great priestly fraternity and an opportunity for spiritual recharging after the pace of the Sacred Triduum. There’s tremendous food during the Easter Octave. There’s a lot of joy as we celebrate together the Resurrection of the Lord. Please note that this year we are having the Seminar on Easter Monday through Wednesday to accommodate those who need to go to Rome for the canonization.

It would be great if you could come and bring priest friends with you. I’d be grateful if you would forward this flier to priests in your email address book. I’d also be grateful if you might send a copy of it to whoever puts together your monthly clergy mailer, in case it might be included there.

We can accommodate 55 priests, although last year we were able to squeeze in 70, so I’d encourage you to register early. Those who get their registration and payment in early are given priority for the rooms in Lockwood (the main house).

You can register by filling out the bottom of the Seminar flier and sending it in with your check or by emailing me to secure your place and then dropping the check into the mail.

In Christ,

Fr. Roger Landry
