A Plan of Life as a Response to Secularism and to Church Scandal, St. Kilian’s Parish, Farmingdale, NY, November 17, 2018

St. Kilian Parish engaged in a ten week study of Plan of Life with parish priest Fr. Dennis Suglia at the end of which the participants asked me to come to speak about the book, take their questions and sign some copies for them and their friends. I gave them an introductory talk on the two contexts for the work. The first was about secularism, living as if God doesn’t exist, and how a plan of life focused on keeping God’s presence alive throughout the day  is a remedy for that form of practical atheism. The second context I was not anticipating when writing the book but I believe God foresaw, which was the scandals that have been assailing the Church in 2018. The only adequate response to such a crisis is sanctity and a plan of life is geared toward helping us grow in holiness in the midst of ordinary life.
